Ahola Transport Ab has acquired the entire share stock in Sundqvist Transport Ab. The deal includes Sundqvist Transport Ab and its fully owned subsidiary SQ Logistics with its office in Warsaw, together with the real estate company at Granholmen in Jakobstad/Pietarsaari and Sundqvist Frakt Ab. The companies will be fully owned subsidiaries of the parent company Ahola Transport Ab.
Kaj Fagerholm is to continue as managing director of Ahola Transport Ab and Jan-Henrik Sundqvist will continue as managing director of Sundqvist Transport Ab (SQ Logistics). Jan-Henrik Sundqvist will report to Kaj Fagerholm. Hans Ahola continues as manager for the consolidated company. The entire staff will continue to be employed within the new consolidation.
The marketing area of the Ahola companies consists of the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries and the marketing area of SQ Logistics, including central Europe and countries in the former Eastern Europe.
Both companies have over 50 years of experience. The companies have co-operated for a long time. As customers become more and more international and in order to fulfil the expectations of the customers, there is a need for an extended market area. As a result of the consolidation the company will be able to cover the entire European market area. Increased capacity means increased safety including fast, efficient and safe transport of goods. Both companies have a highly skilled and loyal staff at your service.
Strategically both companies aim at a growth that will add value for every partner. The sale of the Sundqvist companies was not a strategic alternative earlier. The decision to sell an old family company is never easy to make, but it has been eased by the fact that the owners, management and staff in both companies know each other well, and they share the same values and company culture. These values were decisive in the decision to change a good cooperation into a partnership.
Ahola Transport has transport links in Kokkola and Naantali which support the westward cargo transport. The terminals in Jakobstad/Pietarsaari and Vantaa act as storage and a place to reload cargo, but the company also rents these premises as storage facilities. The demand for storage facilities will increase especially in southern Finland and with this fusion there will shortly be an increased need for larger facilities in Vantaa. The premises in Vantaa will also be able to support cargo transport to the Baltic Countries for Ahola Transport.
Both companies have a highly skilled staff that can serve customers in nine different languages. The know-how of the employees is the key for continuous success and development. Thanks to the positive synergetic effects the filling degree in the trailers can be optimised, which is a decisive factor for competitiveness and in the reduction of negative environmental pollution.
The turnover of the Ahola conglomerate exceeded 61.9 M € over the previous accounting period. The number of employees is 190.
The turnover of Sundqvist Transport Ab was 10,2 M €. The number of employees is 35.
